In 2015, we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Kingsport Area Safety Council. On this site you will find links to who we are, our Mission and Vision, our Board of Directors, annual events that are sponsored by our organization, and other projects that we have supported. KASC provides a great opportunity for networking and promoting safety throughout our region. In 2012, we were awarded the International Safe Communities of America Award through the National Safety Council, highlighting the successful relationship we have forged with area businesses, organizations, and individual members. Calendar of Events
The latest Board of Directors Meeting was held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Eastman Contractor Training Center in Kingsport. The next Board meeting will be held on Thursday, September10, 2015 at the same location. Announcements will be mailed to Board Members.
The latest Community Safety Awareness Meeting held on Tuesday, August18, 2015 at the Picadilly Restaurant in Kingsport. ETSU Public Safety Officer Amanda Worley presented a program on S.A.F.E. (Self-defense Awareness and Familiarization Exchange) that is designed to prevent crimes of sexual violence against adult and teenage women in our community. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Picadilly Restaurant. Kingsport Fire Department will present the program on Fire Safety.
The Annual Awards and Recognition Banquet will be held on Thursday, September 24 at Domtar Cabin. Members will be sent an email requesting RSVP for planning purpose.
On Thursday, May 21, 2015, KASC members Randy Cassell (left), Barry Brickey (second from left) and Gene Faxon (right) delivered 64 hard wired smoke detectors, 10 smoke/CO detectors, and 10 fire extinguishers to the Habitat for Humanity office staff in Colonial Heights. This equipment will be utilized in their home building projects throughout this summer. These units are required to meet local building codes.
On Thursday, May 21, 2015, the Kingsport Area Safety Council hosted a picnic at the Eastman Cabins in Kingsport in celebration of our 70th Year Anniversary of the estabishment of our council. We also celebrated the 30th Annual Safety Seminar that was held on Wednesday, May 13th at the Eastman Toy F. Reid Center in Kingsport. Special thanks to Angel Vicars for coordinating and preparing the meal.
The 2015 Kids Safety Fair was held at the Eastman Toy F. Reid Employee Center on Tuesday, May 12th. Several hundred fourth graders from area elementary schools attended a day of safety training sessions that highlighted safety issues related to their age group. KASC and other vendors provided booths for the students to attend throughout the day. See photos on the Kids Safety Fair page.

Advocacy Center. Apostolic Lighthouse also teamed up with KASC to provide a luncheon for the Salvation Army. Angela Morris of American Red Cross provided presents for two Salvation Army Christmas Angels. More projects are being completed prior to Christmas. Halloween Treat Bag Giveaway
On Wednesday, October 22, 2014, several KASC members stuffed 1,000 Halloween treat bags that were distributed to local youth for promoting safety. Several companies provided candy and toys for use in this project.
2014 Annual Recognition and Awards Banquet

The 2014 Fun Fest Dick Bailey Fire Safety Rodeo was held on Saturday, July 12. Piney Flats VFD was the Overall Champion. See link to left for more information.

The Fall Accident Avoidance Workshops were held at Bristol Motor Speedway. KASC is a sponsor of these events, providing four grants to promote participation. "Homer" Stillwell has conducted this exceptional drivers training course in our area for several years, resulting in exceptional testimonials from participants and parents.
