In the summer of 1987, This event affords a unique opportunity to display the skills of our volunteer fire fighters, and at the same time allows a perfect setting for friendly competition between the area’s volunteer departments. The Fire Safety Rodeo provides five events in which teams compete in timed evolutions. The day begins with a Surprise Event that is unveiled on the day of the rodeo, usually involving rescue and other fire ground operations. This challenges the fire fighters to utilize quick thinking skills to complete assigned tasks. The second event is the traditional Bucket Brigade, followed by the Interior Attack Evolution. The fourth event is the Quick Attack, and the final event is the Battle of the Ball. As you watch the videos, notice the interaction between the departments. Each team is encouraged by their fellow comrades to do their best when they are performing, and one team is honored at the end of the day with a “Sportsmanship Award.” Trophies are presented to the teams with the best times, but everyone leaves this event a winner. We are blessed to have such a high caliber of individuals who volunteer their time and energies to protect us from the dangers of fire, so we salute our volunteer fire fighters.
